Car Dealer is a five-page website for a used-car showroom, built on the one habit the trade almost never has: it publishes the margin. Two mechanisms actually run — a three-facet stock filter over twelve cars, and an instalment calculator that puts the total interest in the largest type on the panel rather than the comfortable monthly figure.
Pages included
Home — hero on the inspection being done by a workshop the dealer does not own, four inspection areas including "faults are listed by name", three of the twelve cars, a dark band of four things that cost the business money (printed faults, no lender commission, seven-day returns, refusing a third of what is offered), a finance teaser whose figures multiply out against the calculator, and three quotes including one from a buyer who walked away.
Stock — the filter: twelve cars carrying data-make, data-body and data-price, with make × body × price band applied in a single pass so a later facet cannot un-hide what an earlier one hid. A live count and an empty state come from that same pass. Then a dark pair of lists — what is on every listing and what is never on one — and five questions.
Finance — the calculator: price, a deposit slider and five terms, each carrying its own flat rate. It returns the monthly payment, the amount financed, the total paid and — in the panel's loudest position — the interest, plus a warning when the interest passes about a third of the cash price. Beside it, a plain explanation of why a flat 6,4% is not a 6,4% mortgage, and a five-row table where the monthly figure falls at every step while the interest column nearly octuples.
Buying & selling — four buying steps where no deposit is taken until the third, an inside-the-price / not-inside-the-price pair of lists, and a table of four real cars showing what was paid, what was spent on them and what was asked. Then the selling side: one offer valid seven days, the inspection report handed over whether you sell or not, and three kinds of car the showroom refuses at any price.
Visit — address, parking that names the correct gate, a test-drive form pre-loaded with all twelve cars, opening hours beside an honest note on the busiest three hours of the week, three ways to arrive, and a short list of what will and will not happen when you walk in.
Design and style. Charcoal and gold on warm off-white, Rubik over Inter, square-ish corners, a solid sticky header with a gold rule under it and a phone number in the strip above. The shared script carries the menu, the stock filter, the calculator, accordions and a date guard — all vanilla and null-guarded, since it runs on every page.
Before you publish. Each car's filter behaviour lives entirely in its three data- attributes, so the badges and the count derive from one place. The finance rates live in data-rate and data-years on the term radios and are also written into the rate table and the home-page teaser — change all three, and check the arithmetic multiplies out, because a buyer will. The margin table is the most consequential block here: it is a public statement about your own business, so either publish your real figures or remove the section rather than inventing numbers a competitor can price against. The inspection promise, the seven-day return and the "no lender commission" claim are commitments a customer will hold you to. Forms use named inputs with no action attribute, so PageHub attaches the handler on publish.
Best suited to used-car dealers and showrooms, motorcycle and commercial-vehicle traders, machinery and equipment resellers, and any business selling second-hand goods where the buyer's real question is not the price but what is wrong with it.
