Clothes photographed on three different bodies, because one body tells you nothing.

Every piece here is shot on a size S, an M and an XL, with each model's height and measurements printed beside the picture. It costs us three times as much per shoot. It is also the only way you can tell what a garment will do on you rather than on a stranger.

Flat measurements on every listing. Free exchange within fourteen days, including the return postage, because a size guide that is wrong should cost us and not you.

A linen dress from the current collection Kirana Linen DressShot on 158 cm / size S, 165 cm / size M and 171 cm / size XL
The same dress

One garment, three bodies, no retouching of the fit.

We smooth away lint and fix white balance. We do not pin the back, clip the waist or lengthen anyone's legs — those three tricks are why online clothes so often arrive looking like a different garment.

The Kirana dress on a size S model 158 cm · size S

Hem sits just below the knee. The waist tie lands at the natural waist without adjusting.

The Kirana dress on a size M model 165 cm · size M

Hem at mid-calf. Sleeves finish a centimetre above the wrist bone, which some people prefer and some do not.

The Kirana dress on a size XL model 171 cm · size XL

Hem at mid-calf, shoulder seam sits correctly. The tie is worn looser here; it is long enough for that.

Pieces from the current run

Small runs of forty to sixty. When a size sells out we say so on the listing rather than quietly hiding it.

Sizing

Most returns are not about taste. They are about a centimetre.

Four fifths of the exchanges we handle are a size up or a size down of the same piece. So the size guide is the page we have worked hardest on, and it is the one we would rather you read before the shop.

  • Body measurements, not garment measurementsThe guide asks for your bust, waist and hip. Garment numbers are on every listing separately, for anyone who prefers to compare against something they already own.
  • It tells you when you are between sizesWhich is common, and which most size charts pretend never happens.
  • It says when we cannot fit youRather than selling you the largest size and hoping.

Measure once, properly

Over a thin layer, tape snug but not pulled tight, standing normally rather than holding your breath. Write the three numbers down somewhere you will find them again — they will not change much, and every future order gets easier.

How we make

Small runs, and what that actually means for you.

Two of these three facts are inconvenient. They are here because you will meet them anyway, and it is better to meet them now.

40–60

pieces per run

Enough to keep the workshop busy for a fortnight, small enough that we can stop making something that is not working instead of discounting it for a year.

3–5

weeks to restock

If your size is gone, that is how long it takes to come back — assuming the fabric is still available, which is not always true. We will tell you which case you are in.

9

people who make it

Six machinists, a cutter, a finisher and a pattern maker, all named on the About page. Nothing here is made anywhere else.

Customers

Three of them, including one exchange

“I am 152 cm and clothes are usually a negotiation. The photo on the shortest model told me the hem would sit at my ankle, and it did. That is the first time an online shop has been right about that.”

Nadia PuspitaJakarta

“Ordered an M, the guide had already warned me my hips were an L. I ignored it, then exchanged it. They paid the postage both ways and did not once say they had told me so.”

Ratih KusumaSurabaya

“I asked whether the linen would go transparent in daylight. The answer was ‘the ivory does, slightly, the other two do not’. I bought the sage. Nobody else answers that question straight.”

Start with your measurements, not with the photographs.

Five minutes with a tape measure will save you a fortnight of posting parcels back and forth. The guide will tell you your size, and will tell you honestly when your numbers sit between two.
