How we got here

Our story, briefly

  1. 2019A queue for bad coffee

    We met in the queue of a conference we had both been sent to unwillingly, and spent the afternoon in the corridor instead of the sessions.

  2. 2021Two cities, one bad idea

    Rio moved for work. We tried to be sensible about it for eleven months, then agreed sensible was overrated and one of us moved back.

  3. 2024The flat with the leaking roof

    Our first place together, fixed with a bucket for two rainy seasons. We keep the bucket. It is in the garage.

  4. 2026A proposal on the same corridor

    Back at the same venue, in the same corridor, at another conference neither of us wanted to attend. Maera said yes before the question finished.

  5. 2027Selasar Hall

    And now you are reading this, which means we would very much like you to be there.

Practical things

Everything you might need to ask

Getting there

Selasar Hall, 14 Jalan Kenanga. Free parking for 120 cars behind the building; the gate on Jalan Melati is the quiet one. Ride-share drop-off is at the north entrance.

What to wear

Formal, in earth tones if you feel like matching the room — sage, sand, warm brown. Not required, and nobody will check. The garden is grass, so heels sink.

Photographs

Please put phones away during the ceremony — we have two photographers and you will be in their shots. Afterwards, take everything you like and use #MaeraRio2027.

Will you be there?

The caterer needs final numbers three weeks ahead, so an early "no" is genuinely as helpful as a "yes".

You will get the location pin and the day's running order by message. If your plans change, reply to that message any time before 10 September.
