Why this one

Three things worth the extra ten dollars

There are $19 lanterns. These are the three differences that matter when the power actually goes out.

A cell that is the size it claims

10,000 mAh measured, not printed. Twenty-six hours on the low setting and six on full. Cheaper lanterns commonly ship 3,000 mAh cells in a 10,000 mAh case, which is why theirs die in a night.

It charges your phone, properly

5V 2.4A out, enough to charge while you use the phone rather than only when it is idle. Two full refills for a typical handset before the lantern needs the wall.

Splash-proof, and repairable

IPX4, so rain on a balcony or a spill in a tent is fine. The battery is replaceable with two screws and we sell the cell for $9 — a lantern you throw away in two years is not cheap.

Honestly compared

Against the two things people buy instead

Both alternatives are reasonable purchases. This table is here so you can decide which problem you are actually solving.

★★★★★

"Power was out for nine hours last month. The lantern ran the whole time on medium and still charged two phones. My neighbour ordered one the next morning."

"Four stars: it is heavier than I expected, about half a kilo. That is the battery, so it is a fair trade — but do not buy it for a backpacking trip where grams matter."

"Ordered three for my mother's house and the shop. Paid the courier, opened one in front of him, kept all three. The whole thing took four minutes."

Six questions

Yes, and please do. The couriers we use allow it and are told to wait. If the box is damaged or the wrong colour is inside, refuse it at the door and you pay nothing — the parcel comes back to us at our cost, not yours.

Twenty-six hours on low, eleven on medium, six on full, measured at 25°C with a fresh cell. After about 500 charge cycles — roughly three years of weekly use — expect around 80% of that. The cell is replaceable for $9 with a small screwdriver, and there is a video showing how.

There is a small panel on the top, and we will be straight about it: a full day of direct sun adds roughly two hours of light on the low setting. It is a useful top-up in an emergency, not a charging method. Anyone selling a lantern this size as fully solar-charged is misleading you.

One-year warranty covering the battery, the switch and the charging port. Message us, send a short video of the problem, and we ship a replacement before you return the faulty one — you are not left without a lantern while a claim is processed.

Seven days from delivery, for any reason, provided it is complete and undamaged. You pay the return postage, which is $3 to $7 depending on where you are. Refunds are sent within two working days of the parcel arriving.

From twelve units, yes, at $21 each with free delivery. Message us with your city and we will send the price list. Shops and organisations buying for distribution after a flood or an outage get the same price without the twelve-unit minimum.

Pay when it is in your hand.
