Same-day emergency appointments

You get the price and the plan before anything is drilled.

Meridian is a five-chair practice with four dentists. Every treatment plan is written down with a total on it and handed to you to take home — nobody is asked to decide about a crown while lying in the chair.

What people come in for

Prices below are what you pay. The full list, including the expensive things, is on the treatments page — hiding it until you are in the chair is the practice we started this one to avoid.

Check-up and hygiene

A twenty-minute examination, two X-rays if it has been a year, and a scale and polish with the hygienist. You leave knowing what needs doing and what does not.

$38 · with hygienist $64

Fillings and root canal

Composite fillings matched to the tooth, and root canal treatment done over two visits rather than rushed into one. Local anaesthetic is included in the price, not added afterwards.

Filling from $72 · root canal from $290

Crowns and bridges

Made by a local laboratory we have used for eleven years, fitted over two appointments. If a crown fails within five years we replace it and you pay for the laboratory work only.

Crown from $410

Braces and aligners

Fixed braces and clear aligners, quoted as a total for the whole treatment including every review appointment and the retainer. No monthly surprises.

From $1,850 all in

Children's dentistry

Under-12s are seen free when a parent is a registered patient. The first visit is a look and a ride in the chair, with no instruments, because a frightened six-year-old becomes a frightened adult.

Emergencies

Pain, a lost filling or a knocked-out tooth: ring before 11:00 and you are seen the same day. Out of hours the answering message gives the on-call dentist's number, not a voicemail box.

Your first visit

Four steps, and nothing is decided in the chair

Written out because most people who have avoided a dentist for years are avoiding the uncertainty rather than the drill.

Step 1

A conversation, sitting up

Before the chair goes back. What hurts, what you are worried about, and how long it has been. Nobody comments on how long it has been.

Step 2

Examination and X-rays

Twenty minutes, with the screen turned towards you so you can see what the dentist is describing rather than take it on trust.

Step 3

A written plan with a total

Printed, itemised, split into what is urgent, what can wait and what only needs watching. You take it home; nothing is booked on the spot.

Step 4

You decide, later

Ring when you have read it. If the plan is more than you can do at once, we sequence it over a year and tell you which part genuinely cannot wait.

If you are nervous

Four things we do differently for anxious patients

About one patient in five tells us they are nervous, and many more do not. None of these need to be asked for — say so when you book and they happen automatically.

  • 1Longer appointmentsForty minutes instead of twenty, at no extra cost, so nothing is hurried.
  • 2A stop signal that worksRaise your hand and the dentist stops, every time, including mid-procedure.
  • 3Nothing done on the first visitUnless you are in pain. The first appointment can be a conversation and nothing else.
  • 4The price said out loud, onceBefore treatment, never during. Money talk in the chair is its own kind of pressure.

What patients say

★★★★★

"I had not been to a dentist in nine years. Nobody made a comment about it, and the plan they gave me was sequenced over eighteen months so I could afford it."

"They told me a tooth needed watching rather than filling. Two other practices had quoted me for the filling. It is still fine two years later."

"Four stars because the waiting time on Saturdays is real — an hour once. The treatment itself and the honesty about cost are why we still bring all three children."

Emergency slots are kept free every weekday morning and are not released for routine bookings. If they are gone, the receptionist will tell you honestly rather than putting you on a list.
